Overheard: “I’m code.”

Sunbathing with Head Cold

"Where's my hot rum umbrella drink?"

No central heating, a local cold spell and a head cold.

It’s a ┬ácertain recipe for discontent.

Ok, so I checked the weathernetwork and it states 20 degrees is your high…
What is the problem with that? Is that really the cold spell you are complaining about?
Sorry no sympathy from the farm Robertson’s .. it is snowing here and a balmy 0 degrees.
Slushy roads and no wind… suckitup princess…
Ok.. I’ll have a rum toddy for you at the Van Ham’s tonight… that should help..
Hope you feel better soon…

Thanks Carla, Sure hope my hot run toddy was good. It even appears to have helped a bit.
I know the temperatures don’t suggest that one should be cold but remember the buildings are made of concrete and there is no central heating. So the low single digits from the night time low stays with you well into the morning. We have our coffee outside so that we can absorb the warmth of the sun. I actually went out to buy a winter coat yesterday – now I’m happy!
O.k. I’ll admit I was feeling a bit wimpy but really, it gets pretty cold here. O.K. no snow.. or slush…
I’ll be sucking it up now…
the Princess.

Dear Princess,
Consider yourself lucky today – we are experiencing snow and high cold winds – nothing like a southern alberta fall, is there?
Stay warm :-)

I feel your pain, XAL. The place where I lived in Pakistan had this big fireplace, and I initially had no idea why. Then I experienced the nighttime temperatures, and all became clear. I learned to love that fireplace if not the snotty-ass camel who pulled the wood delivery cart.
