We Have Mail!

by Annalise on December 14, 2009

We’d given up hope, but our box of winter and work supplies, shipped from Calgary on Sept. 7th arrived in Kathmandu on December 8th! The contents, long forgotten, seem strange and wonderful as we unpack the box. It must be Christmas!

Dave now has a few more work clothes and his office mates can stop worrying about the limitations of his wardrobe. I have all of my Teaching English abroad books to refer to for new materials. And Robin and I now have many choices for winter coats having purchased new ones just 2 weeks ago and now also having our own familiar favorites.

We also received a letter from my sister Joanne, mailed in late September and a package from Liz also mailed about then. Thank you to both! The delight in having actually received these items was surpassed only by being able to read and re-read the letters and enjoy the contents.

Given our planned departure for late February from Nepal, I think anything mailed now will miss us if this past delivery is indicative. None the less, a very pleasant surprise and evidence that post is possible even to Kathmandu …. provided you have the time.

Thank goodness for the internet – you don’t seem so far away, thankfully.
