27 days ~ 700 km

by Annalise on April 22, 2010

We have completed our Chemin de Saint Jacque from Le Puy en Valez to Saint Jean Pied-de-Port. It’s an experience extraordinary in its simplicity. There is much to say about this fantastic time but it needs to be a bit synthesized first.

We are in a hotel room in Tours, on our way to Paris. At the moment the hotel room looks like a bomb hit it as we re-organize the things we pulled out of storage (computers, bagpipes, duffel bags with cloths we didn’t use on the walk….) and our mini-lives as experienced from the confines of our now intimately familiar backpacks. From our current perspective, immediately post walk, it look excessive and overwhelming.

We’re all feeling very strong and grateful for the experience. Robin included says he really liked some parts of the experience. His facebook posts might have been sufficient to alert child protection authorities but really we spent a great deal of the time singing, playing ‘name that tune’ played on the kazoo, talking and just enjoying being outside and active. I’d do it again in a flash!! Karen, you’ll absolutely love it.

More in a few days. …. some photos to sort!

Congratulations! 700 kms in 27 days is pretty remarkable and will be a great story for Robin to share when he returns home.
